Walmart’s brand of chili is nearly identical to the Kroger and Hormel brands. However, I find the Great Value chili to be a touch too watery and lacking in the flavor department. However, it’s hard to beat the very low price. So, this is another brand that should be on your list for a quick and easy meal. But it’s important to note that a full can of the chili (each can is technically two servings), has 1550mg of sodium, and it certainly tastes salty. All of the brands on this list are packed with similar amounts of sodium, but this one in particular tastes quite salty.

6th Place: Wolf Brand Chili No Beans

This chili, which touts its “Authentic Texas Recipe,” has a strong beef flavor and very smooth texture, making it a great topping for hot dogs or fries. Some brands have water as the first ingredient, but Wolf has “meat ingredients” (both beef and pork) listed first. Plus, it has beef broth, chili pepper, and tomato purée. It also has whole rolled oats, which perhaps helps it achieve its thick, rich texture. Overall, it has a prominent beef and chili flavor, and is thick enough to spread on just about anything.

5th Place: Aldi’s Brookdale Original Chili No Beans

This chili from Aldi has a great overall flavor, making it one of my favorite no-bean chilis. It was fantastic when used as a dip for tortilla chips, and I can imagine feeling quite content eating a hot dog with this chili spooned on top and watching my local minor league baseball team likely lose another game. There is nothing noticeably off or bad about this chili, landing it firmly in the middle of the pack.

4th Place: Hormel Chili Chunky Beef Chili With Beans

Perhaps the most recognizable brand of chili, Hormel has quite a few options, but this version is seriously thick. It’s packed to the brim with creamy beans and relatively big chunks of beef. This brand has jalapeño peppers and green chiles, in addition to concentrated crushed tomatoes and thickeners. I enjoyed the texture quite a bit, as it didn’t really feel soupy in the slightest, but the flavor is just a bit too mellow for my liking.
