Looking for the best canned Chilis to transform a cold day into something comforting?

A hot bowl of chili topped with shredded cheese, sour cream, and pickled jalapeño can transform any cold, blustery day into something cozy and comforting. While nothing really beats homemade chili, whether cooked low and slow in a Crockpot or gently simmered in a Dutch oven, it’s hard to overlook the convenience of a simple can of chili. But which brand is best?

I went to local grocery stores and surveyed the options for both bean and no-bean chili, picking up 10 different brands to determine which was the absolute best. While I had a clear winner, there were a couple of cans I’d be happy to buy again—and there were others I’ll never try again.

Ranking the best canned Chilis for your kitchen

I included chili with and without beans, but I skipped any plant-based options. I also included only one type of chili from each brand. Some, like Hormel, have numerous options. There is clearly a difference in texture between chili with and without beans, so I judged them for what they were: a more hearty texture with beans or a smoother texture without beans.
