HUGE POT of Chili at Home
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef (or turkey/chicken for variation)
2 cans of beans (pinto, black, kidney, or white beans—your choice!)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 cup chopped bell peppers (use a mix of colors for a vibrant dish)
1/2 cup chopped onions (finely diced for a milder flavor)
2 jalapenos, finely chopped (adjust based on your heat preference)
2 cans (28 oz each) crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tbsp cumin powder
1 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
Hot sauce, to taste
Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:
Cook the Meat:
In a large Dutch oven or saucepan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef (or turkey/chicken) and cook until browned. Drain any excess grease.
Sauté the Vegetables:
Add chopped bell peppers, onions, and jalapenos to the pot. Cook on low heat until the vegetables soften and release their flavors.
Add the Beans and Tomatoes:
Stir in the beans, crushed tomatoes, chili powder, cumin powder, and fresh cilantro. Mix everything well.
Simmer the Chili:
Allow the chili to simmer on low heat, stirring occasionally. This slow cooking lets all the flavors meld together. If it gets too thick, add a little water to reach your desired consistency.
Season and Serve:
Season with salt and pepper to taste. For an extra kick, serve with hot sauce on the side.
Enjoy this big, bold bowl of chili! Perfect for family dinners or sharing with friends.
